About Our Redeemer Lutheran School
Our Redeemer Lutheran School is a mission outreach of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, a member congregation of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. What began as 20 First and Second Graders in September, 1962 has now grown to become a Preschool and Elementary School, serving children from Age 3 through Grade 8.
Our strong test scores for all grades prove the effectiveness of our educational philosophy, and our teachers' firm commitment to their students' personal growth & learning.
The emphasis in our Preschool 3's and 4's program is on socialization, reading readiness, art, music, and Bible stories. The children learn a daily routine, and are prepared to continue on to our Kindergarten class.
Our Full Day Kindergarten program has a strong emphasis on Reading skills, which is carried over into all other curriculum areas. It is a theme-based curriculum, with the children learning about apples, autumn, zoo animals, plants, penguins and Arctic animals, transportation, and holidays, among many others. The children learn Bible stories 4 days a week, and are assigned a weekly Bible verse to learn.
First Grade through Eighth Grade follow the same basic curriculum as the public schools in the area, with the addition of Religion. Grades 3-8 rotate classes in Spanish, Creative Writing and Public Speaking, Technology and Health, and Art on Tuesday & Thursday afternoons.
All students attend Chapel on Wednesday mornings, with the classes taking turns leading the service once a month.
